This week's 'Super Tuesday' primaries saw yet another surprising win for the Republican candidate Roger Lowe. Lowe's race for the nomination had been underplayed and gone unnoticed by many Republicans until recently, due to his outspoken support of the Mutant Registration Act and his lack of campaign funding. Many considered his supporters to be a small step above fanatical cult members. A rise in mutant-related incidents, however, has given Lowe an unexpected foothold in the mainstream population in some states, and the Senator from North Carolina has been quick to press his advantage. He's been showing a slow but steady gain as the primaries gain momentum, and at a time when the nomination is usually already unofficially declared, some are speculating that Lowe may be able to find fresh support for his platform and possibly work his way into the Vice Presidental spot.

Lowe surprised the country when he won South Carolina on February 3 and Utah on February 27. Both states had recently experienced a disaster that was linked to mutants, and experts speculate that the spreading dislike and fear of mutants has upped support for Lowe.

Lowe has made it clear that he strongly supports Mutant Registration and will do everything in his power to push the bill through Congress and into law. He also favors several efforts to control mutants who may eventually be labeled 'dangerous' by the Registration Council. The Republican party has been unsure about embracing Lowe, due to the controversial nature of the Registration act and the issues surrounding the mutant/human divide, but as the Senator gains in public approval, several key figures have come out to pledge their support. Public support for the Senator has also increased - there have been rallies in major cities, and signs and bumper stickers, many printed for free off the internet, have begun to appear in force, sometimes sparking controversy and confrontation in public places.

Lowe came away from Tuesday's primaries with another victory, this one in Georgia, under his belt. Analysists speculate that Lowe will have no trouble winning his home state come May. Lowe has pledged to stay in the race until the end, and he's finally got people talking about the possibility of Senator Roger Lowe in the White House.

AP (Orlando, Florida)
Three Florida adolescents are being held in police custody today after the latest and most vicious incident in what has apparently been a string of harassment and beatings in Orlando area junior high schools.

The three preteens are a part of a group that has had several complaints lodged against it in the past month, throughout several different junior high schools. According to school authorities, they have been verbally harassing classmates for several weeks. Some parents have complained that not enough had been done to discipline the teens.

The group seems to be focusing its hatred on students who have publicly mutant parents, or who have shown signs of possessing mutant powers themselves. Some members of the community have argued that complaints against the students have been mostly ignored because of school prejudice against mutants, while others support the school's decision to allow the students to remain in school despite repeated reports of harassment and bullying.

One resident supports the students, saying, "It's the only way they have to fight back against these people. They've got to learn to take care of themselves now."
The harassment seems to have escalated in the past week, with several students arriving at school with torn clothing and unexplained bruises. No students were willing to step forward and name their attackers at the time.

Many community members have linked the rising viciousness of the attacks to the unexpected victory of Roger Lowe in the recent Republican primaries.

"Every since that narrow-minded bigot won, some families seem to think they have the right to do whatever they want to mutants," says one resident, who asked to not be identified.

The most recent victim, an eleven year old girl the students seem to have thought could read their minds, was found behind the school bleeding heavily from a cut to the head. She has suffered a concussion and a broken wrist, as well as several cracked ribs.

Two boys, 12 and 13, and a girl, 12, are being held by the police, and school authorities have been strangely silent on the matter.

NEW YORK (AP) Republican candidate Roger Lowe is scheduled to visit New York next week. Lowe, who preaches family values and lower taxes, has made a reputation by speaking in loud public support of mutant registration. Reactions to his philosophy vary on both sides. Lowe has found strong support in some areas, particularly those which have had a high incidence of mutant violence in the past year; to date, he has won four primaries, staying in the race by a thread. At a time when parties have traditionally declared an unofficial presidential candidate, Lowe contends that his support is still strong, and he has declared several times that he will stay in the race until the end.

Lowe is scheduled to make several appearances in New York City, including the Daily Show with Jon Stewart and a public speech at Emerson University. If you are interested in helping with his visit to New York, please contact the Roger Lowe campaign. They are available online at support@rogerlowe.org.

Gone from bit-player-at-best to a serious contender in the presidential race, Senator Lowe has fired both contreversy and adulation. Most quickly identified for his strong push for Mutant Registration, Lowe supporters counter than the main reason why Lowe has become so successful is his rational approach, and his solid family values.

Senator Lowe will be speaking Thursday at 10:30 PM (EST) at Thoreau Hall of Emerson University. The Senator "[apologizes] for the late hour. I know that many of you have early jobs, I know many of you are students, and this will be an inconvenience. I apologize for this. My scheduled appearance immediately prompted a set of pro-mutant rallies intent on keeping me from speaking. But this is only more reason to speak. I feel my views have been misrepresented and that speaking here should hopefully battle some old misunderstandings. This forum will be an opportunity for me to tell you exactly, with no media distortion, what I want for this country. And I will be only too glad to address your questions."
